When looking west from this part of the beach, you will see this view of a quiet beach with Vineyard Haven Harbor and its boat traffic in the distance.
Almost Always Calm Water
Looking east, instead of west as in the above photograph, gives you a clear view of the drawbridge. It also shows part of the beach that is easy to access and has very calm water for swimming.
This clump of beachgrass has flowered and gone to seed. The wind and birds will spread these seeds and new beachgrass plants will grow. Beachgrass can also propagate itself by underground roots called runners or rhizomes.
Fishing From the Jetty
The jetty on the southwest corner of this beach is a popular and productive place to go fishing.
Here are just a couple of views of this small but popular beach on the Oak Bluffs side of the drawbridge that spans the opening into Lagoon Pond.
