DCAM Certification Seminar for Contractors on April 2, 2010
DCAM CONTRACTORS WORKSHOP FOR GENERAL/PRIME CONTRACTORS AND FILED SUB-BIDDERS

In an effort to provide training and outreach to the Martha‚Äôs Vineyard construction contracting community, the Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM), in conjunction with the Town of Tisbury and County of Dukes County, will be hosting a Contractor Certification Seminar on Friday April 2, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Katherine Cornell Theater, 51 Spring Street, Tisbury, MA.  Contractors who are interested in bidding public building work as General Contractors or Filed Sub-Bidders are encouraged to attend the session to learn about the Contractor Certification Application process.  The program will be conducted by Harry Schoenbrun, Assistant Manager of Contractor Certification at DCAM.

Please note that this seminar is for building contractors and filed sub-bidders that are in the business of vertical building construction only.  DCAM Certification does not pertain to horizontal construction, suppliers, manufacturers, or other service providers.

Requirements For DCAM Certification

Prime/General Contractor Certification

  • Your firm must have been in business for a minimum of one (1) year
  • Your firm must have completed a minimum of five (5) projects within the past five years in each category of work for which certification is sought and each project must have a minimum contract value of $80,000
  • Your firm must have an established bonding capacity with a surety that is on the most recent list of approved sureties issued by the United States Department of the Treasury
  • Your firm must have the most recent year ended reviewed or audited financial statement prepared by a CPA (not a tax service).  If your firm has a parent company, subsidiaries, or affiliates, you must provide stand-alone financials that pertain solely to the applicant company
  • If your firm is a plumbing or electrical corporation, you must provide Corporate Master Licenses for those trades
Filed Sub-bidder Certification

  • Your firm must have been in business for a minimum of one (1) year
  • Your firm must have completed a minimum of three (3) projects within the past three years in each category of work for which certification is sought and each project must have a minimum contract value of $20,000
  • Your firm must have the most recent year ended compiled, reviewed or audited financial statement prepared by a CPA (not a tax service).  If your firm has a parent company, subsidiaries, or affiliates, you must provide stand-alone financials that pertain solely to the applicant company
  • If your firm is seeking certification in plumbing or electrical, you must provide Master Licenses for those trades in the name of the owner of the applicant company
