Dukes County is seeking qualified bidders to refurbish 26 double hung windows at the Dukes County Courthouse (historic building) on Main Street in Edgartown. The successful applicant must be able to document an extensive experience in working on historic buildings and experience and licenses to address removal and disposal of lead paint and other hazardous materials. All work must be performed outside of the regular courthouse hours, which will require work after hours and on weekends. Submitted bids will be assessed based on price, the ability to prove
prior historic restoration experience, the ability to address the hazardous materials and the ability to perform the work around the continued use of the courthouse.
Qualified parties my obtain the bid specifications by contacting the County Manager’s Office at 508-696-3840, firstname.lastname@example.org or at the Dukes County Administrative Building at 9 Airport Road, Edgartown Mon. – Fri. 8:30 to 4:30. The bids must be received by December 19th at 4:00pm.
Addendum to the bid package 12-10-2013:
NOTE: The windows that need to be restored are in the wings of the building!
Budget as presented to towns with a request for funding:
1st floor - 20 windows - repair including installation $53,000
2nd floor - 6 windows - repair including installation $15,900
26 new storm windows including installation $3,250
Total cost - $72,150
This is our estimate of the project as a "worst case scenario". We expect that some of the windows will not require the full restoration and therefore will not fall in the most expensive category of repairs.
