The Charter is the actual County Charter that the citizens of the County of Dukes County voted foroverwhelmingly in 1992. This is the only county that has adopted the County Manager form of government authorized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the model for this form of government can be found in M.G.L. c.34A, Sections 15, 16, 18 & 20. The Administrative Code is the written document that spells out in great detail how the County shall be constituted and the authority and responsibilities of each department. This was adopted in 2000.
The Personnel By-law sets forth how the County shall deal with the emplolyees of the County, and was first adopted in 1996.
